Buffalo Water Launches Home Repair Service Plans through HomeServe USA

Plans available at www.ProtectBuffaloWater.com can help customers to cover unexpected home repair emergencies

BUFFALO, New York - Oct. 16, 2019 – Buffalo Water is offering residential customers a new repair service program to help them save money and time on repairs to the water service line connecting their homes to the city’s system.

Buffalo Water’s new partner, HomeServe USA, is a leading provider of home emergency repair service programs. Residential homeowners in the city can now select from among HomeServe’s optional repair plans to cover the exterior water, sewer and in-home plumbing systems that aren’t usually included in their basic homeowners insurance plans.

“It’s not uncommon for homeowners to not realize that they are responsible for the service line that connects their home to Buffalo’s water system. The cost of those repairs can easily exceed homeowners’ ‘rainy day’ funds set aside to cover life’s unexpected situations,” commented HomeServe CEO John Kitzie. “Our partnership with Buffalo Water means that residents can have a little peace of mind knowing if this type of situation occurs, they can count on local, licensed contractors from the community to come to help.”

The partnership with HomeServe builds upon the program Buffalo Water introduced in 2011. That program is being reintroduced and expanded with HomeServe as the new program administrator. Over 15,200 Buffalo homeowners already have service plans under the old program that are being transitioned to HomeServe. Customers with existing plans under the old program don’t need to take any action and will receive information in the mail about the change in the coming days. Additionally, all eligible Buffalo homeowners will be receiving information about all the new service plans available. Materials coming in the mail will bear the Buffalo Water logo as a sign of the program’s validity to residents.

“It’s a fact that aging infrastructure is prone to failure in cities everywhere. And while cities like Buffalo are doing their part to manage the public infrastructure, we’re well aware that failures are happening on the private side and can be a big inconvenience to residents,” continued Kitzie. “We’re also happy that HomeServe’s plans will complement Buffalo’s existing ROLL program, which was announced earlier this year.”

Buffalo Water customers will have the opportunity to enroll in several service plan options covering the exterior water or sewer line, in-home plumbing and their water heater. Coverage for HomeServe’s plans range from $6.99 to $14.99 depending on the plan(s) homeowners select. Customers who choose to enroll will be able to pay for the coverage with convenient payment options directly with HomeServe. The program is completely optional, and the coverage can be canceled at any time.

Customers can expect information about the program to arrive in the mail this week, which will explain how to enroll. To learn more, visit www.ProtectBuffaloWater.com.
