Toilet Backups Lead to Major Sewer Line Savings

In late 2022, David G. of Bucks County, Pennsylvania was experiencing a recurring, frustrating issue in his home. Multiple toilets were repeatedly backing up throughout his house, even though his family took care in not flushing anything that they weren’t supposed to.

The fix, he thought, was easy; David had neighbors that came and snaked the sewer line for him as needed, alleviating the backups for the time being. At first, the issue was sporadic. But as 2023 came around, it was getting more persistent, and instead of asking his neighbor to snake the line again as a band aid, David decided it was time to see what was really causing the chronic problem and called up HomeServe. He had enrolled in a sewer line plan as soon as he heard it became available in his area via a notice from his utility just months before the issue started in mid-2022.

“In the past, I have worked with other home repair plan companies and had a very poor experience, so I was wary at first,” David told us. “It was always such a hassle to file a claim that I ended up paying out of pocket to avoid the trouble all together. Thankfully, my experience with HomeServe couldn’t have been more different.”

F.K.R. Plumbing and Heating, a local, reliable member of HomeServe’s contractor network, paid David a visit to diagnose the problem. After running a camera down through the line, they were able to determine that the backups were thanks to a dip in the 40-year-old piping that was caused by shifts in the foundation over time.

“I am somebody who appreciates open communication, and HomeServe knocked that out of the park. They kept me informed at every step in the process without me having to reach out on my end first,”

“F.K.R. Plumbing went the extra mile in this job,” said David. “Beyond leaving my property the way that they found it, they even took the time to replace the stones they had to rip up as part of the repair.”

When all was said and done, about six feet of the sewer line was replaced, saving David and his family a total of just over $7,700. But for him, the large bill his HomeServe plan saved was just the cherry on top of a great customer experience.

“I am somebody who appreciates open communication, and HomeServe knocked that out of the park. They kept me informed at every step in the process without me having to reach out on my end first,” said David. “HomeServe took 100% of the stress out of this situation for me; the service was phenomenal. I will be a customer for life.”
