Sewage Bubbles Up in Bedroom

Sewage Bubbles Up in Bedroom

Darlene had a problem: Raw sewage was backing up into her finished basement at her Hagerstown, Maryland, home and it was causing her family a good deal of consternation.

“The basement was flooded with sewage,” Darlene said. “Someone actually sleeps down there and saw the water coming up out of the drain.”

Darlene’s family member couldn’t remain in a room with sewage bubbling up from the drains, and, aside from that, the seeping wetness was causing extensive damage to the room, and Darlene would have to have it refurbished. But first the sewer blockage had to be taken care of.

Fortunately, Darlene had enrolled in an emergency home repair plan from HomeServe, securing coverage for her sewer service line. Darlene’s foresight has saved her hundreds of dollars over the past two years, as she had had plumbers out twice before to auger the sewer line after she experienced problems with slow drains.

She had previously had coverage with another provider, but had switched to HomeServe, noting that she had experienced delays in service from her prior provider that she deemed unacceptable. She made the change after receiving a mailing from HomeServe through her local utility.

Darlene knew all she needed to do was make a call and HomeServe would dispatch a local, licensed, insured and qualified plumber to her home to handle the issue. Even better, HomeServe would pay the contractor directly for the work, meaning that Darlene didn’t have to worry about finding a reputable contractor or paying them out-of-pocket and waiting to be reimbursed from her home insurer.

“They sent me text messages to let me know when they were going to be here and told me everything that was going to be happening.”

This time, Douglas and Son was dispatched to hydrojet Darlene’s sewer line to keep it running free and clear.

“They sent me text messages to let me know when they were going to be here and told me everything that was going to be happening,” she said.

Darlene saved $350 on this repair and was happy that she had the coverage.

“Everything was excellent,” she said.
