Does your garbage disposal smell like a combination of broccoli, hot trash and the despair of a late-20-something realizing how disappointing life actually turned out to be? That’s because food particles, bacteria and other slimy gunk build up over time in the dank, dark recesses beneath your drain, where you dare not stick your hand.

Watch the video above and learn to slay the stink in your sink without endangering your digits — by just adding ice. Here’s what to do…
1. Simply fill your garbage disposal to the brim with ice cubes.
2. Add some coarse salt.
3. Add some citrus peels.
4. Turn on the cold water.
5. Then let ’er rip until the ice is fully pulverized — in the process, knocking loose and scraping off the fetid filth while, in a manner of speaking, “sharpening the blades.”
6. Watch in delight-slash-disgust as your disposal horks up a sickening Slurpee like when that last frozen margarita comes back up on you.
7. Turn off the garbage disposal.
8. Rinse away all the vomitous slush with warm water.
Now, take another whiff. What do you smell? Nothing? Exactly.
