Heat pump smart home compatibility depends on more than whether your thermostat connects to Wi-Fi. Your system’s wiring, heating stages and backup heat setup all affect whether it can work properly with smart home devices and smart thermostats.
Don’t upgrade your thermostats and expect instant compatibility. Your heat pump might require additional wiring or specialized controls. Before buying a new thermostat, it helps to understand how your heat pump system works.
Can a Smart Thermostat Work With a Heat Pump?
Yes, many smart thermostats work with heat pumps. In fact, several modern thermostats are specifically designed for heat pump systems.
