FirstEnergy selected HomeServe in 2006 to offer optional, yet affordable Plans to customers of FirstEnergy Operating Companies that provide protection against costly and inconvenient repairs to systems throughout their homes and properties.

Repair Plans

Customers who purchase following plans will be billed directly on their FirstEnergy bill.
HomeServe USA Repair Management Corp. ("HomeServe"), with corporate offices located at 601 Merritt 7, 6th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851, is an independent company separate from FirstEnergy Corp., its operating companies, subsidiaries and affiliates, including the electric utility that provides your electric distribution service (hereafter referred to, collectively, as "FirstEnergy Companies"). The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio does not regulate this optional service and has no authority to investigate complaints about this optional service. HomeServe offers this service plan as an authorized representative of the contract issuer, AMT Warranty Corp., 59 Maiden Lane, 43rd Floor, New York, NY 10038. A customer's decision to receive or not receive the good or service under this program will not influence the delivery of competitive or non-competitive retail electric service to that customer by the FirstEnergy Companies.

If I'm a customer of a FirstEnergy Operating Company, will the HomeServe charges show up on my electric bill?
Yes. Customers who sign up for these services from HomeServe will be billed directly on their electric billl.
Does my homeowners insurance or local utility cover repairs to the systems in my home?

Many homeowners believe their utility companies or homeowners insurance is responsible for emergency repairs to the water, sewer, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems, but the reality is that in many cases you, the homeowner, is responsible. Most basic homeowners insurance policies and local utility companies or municipalities do not cover repairs to or replacement of the major systems in and around your home. 

I need a repair. What should I do?

Step 1: If you should suffer a home repair emergency after your start date that is covered by your plan, call HomeServe toll-free at 1-888-658-3800 and one of our customer service specialists will get you started on your service call.

Step 2: A local, licensed and insured technician will be dispatched to your home to make the covered repair or replacement.

Step 3: Once covered repairs are completed, you just sign a form to say you are satisfied and we pay the technician directly up to the annual benefit amount.

Who will come to my home to make the repair?
Homeowners who call with a covered emergency can rest assured that a local, licensed and insured technician will respond to the call and carry out the repair in a professional manner.
How do I cancel my plan?
You may cancel within 30 days of your start date for a full refund less any claims paid, where applicable, by calling HomeServe at 1-888-658-3800. Cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a pro-rata refund less any claims paid, where applicable.
