In partnership with the Express and Star, Cash for Your Community provides local community groups with the chance to win a share of £35,000 to help improve and support the work they do in their local community.
From charities to support groups, youth clubs to sports teams, community groups across the Midlands are benefiting from funding thanks to Cash for Your Community, HomeServe’s partnership with the Express & Star.
Now in its third year, Cash for Your Community offers local charities and organisations the chance to win a share of funding to help them improve and support the valuable work they do in their communities. This year, a share of £35,000 is up for grabs – all groups need to do is register and then get collecting tokens from the Express & Star. The more tokens you are able to collect, the bigger share of funding you can receive, it’s that simple!
Over the last two years, £65,000 has been shared between over 200 local groups who have used the funding to directly benefit their local community. The funding has been put to good use across the region, including being put towards a new roof for a local Bowls group’s Clubhouse, a playgroup creating a sensory room for children to enjoy and a gymnast group funding more coaches – all thanks to Cash for Your Community.
We love supporting our local communities and are really proud to work in partnership with the Express & Star on such a fantastic initiative that helps hundreds of local people across the region.
2014 saw almost 100 community groups enter the programme and collect tokens to win a share of £30,000.
Top of the list in 2014 was Willenhall Trinity Bowls Club. Having collected nearly 15,000 tokens, the group received over £3,000 funding. More than 70 members play bowls and socialise at the local club which said it would use the funding to help secure a new roof for the Clubhouse.
In second place was Violets in Bloom, a charity set up to help bereaved parents. The charity collected just under 11,000 tokens receiving over £1,600 funding to help set up a children’s memorial garden that now sits within the grounds of Lichfield and District Crematorium in Fradley.
After collecting nearly 10,000 tokens, Small Wonders play group picked up over £2,400 worth of funding and opened up a new Sensory room at the Lifesprings Centre in Wolverhampton.
Following the success of 2014’s campaign, in 2015 the pot of money up for grabs this time around was increased to £35,000, meaning even more funding was up for grabs for community groups to win a share of.

Token collections were then opened up to the public to help them support their local groups.
