How long have you been here and what attracted you to work at HomeServe?
I joined HomeServe in January this year following an online job advert I’d seen for a Digital Designer. I’d heard lots of great stories about HomeServe from independent reviews on Glassdoor including its culture, the focus on People, and how it puts customers first.
What should someone relocating to Walsall do right away?
Get to know the area - check out Walsall town itself. It’s going through some great changes at the moment, and it really shows. The waterfront redevelopment includes a new cinema and a number of surrounding restaurants. Being a creative person I do tend to visit the New Art Gallery from time-to-time!
What does your day-to-day entail? Which parts of your role get you out of bed in the morning?
My daily schedule usually consists of working through digital initiatives, generating new ideas for website improvements, and then creating visuals ready for digital implementation. What motives me is the combination of creativity and technical development within my role. I'm also enjoying watch our Google rating climb through great optimisation work!
Why is the work you do, important to HomeServe?
We always want to improve a customer’s experience online, whether on our website or the app. The work I do enhances any feature on that platform - it may be a modification to an existing web page, or a new service we want to strategically promote on our site. Our digital platforms are within the public domain 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so it’s very important to ensure that we visually communicate the correct message to all our customers.
What is the most exciting project you’ve been involved in during your time with HomeServe?
The first project I worked on was the UK digital rebranding of HomeServe, which was a major step-change for the company. This involved collaboration between myself and the Brand Communications team to create a guidelines document based on our new global brand strategy.
A successful website re-launch followed, utilising my new front-end designs to dramatically change the visual appearance of the customer site. It’s an exciting time for HomeServe, with lots of new design possibilities!
How do you get involved in other aspects of the digital team?
My core skills are based on creativity and UI/UX enhancements, but there are lots of other aspects when you work within a digital environment. SEO plays a key role within our workload it we want to keep ahead of our competition we have to put the extra work in! Before we launch a new product or service on our website we comprehensively test all functionalities.
