What’s the training like?

The training lasts for three weeks, it’s quite hands on and you do a lot of practical work. It made me feel really prepared to go on the phones and at the end of the training, I couldn’t wait to get started. I really liked that once you get started you’re not left on your own. You spend two weeks doing the job, but with additional support, meaning that there was always someone there if I needed them. Read full story...

What made you decide to do an apprenticeship?

When I left school I really wanted to do something practical, my grandad used to do technical drawing and I was always helping him build things in the garage. When I finished school I started a course at college, but decided the classroom wasn’t for me. I started looking around for apprenticeships and saw the opportunity to gain an NVQ whilst working at HomeServe on https://www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeshipsearch, and applied straight away! Position: IT Service Delivery Manager
Why do you think HomeServe is a great place to work?:

It's all about People as they make it a great place of work. I've made so many friends here and the atmosphere was always amazing. There is a lot of truth in the saying 'work hard, play hard', as we definitely do so. Also worth mentioning is that I have been at HomeServe for almost 9 years now and this place was like an incubator for my personal development. I have started right at the bottom and HomeServe enabled me to grow up to the point where I am now and there are still plenty of opportunities to push further.
