Electrical Surge

Eligibility: To be eligible, you must own or rent both the residential single structure, or a unit within a structure, and the land it's located on. You are not eligible if your home is a recreational vehicle or otherwise intended to be moved; your property is used for commercial purposes; you know of any current problems with your electrical products before enrollment; your electrical products are entirely shared with a 3rd party or covered by a homeowners' association or the like; or are not installed according to manufacturer specifications. In IA, properties with more than 4 dwelling units are not eligible.
Benefit Details: Coverage provides, up to the benefit amount, to repair or replace electrical products that fail due to an electrical surge, for which you have sole responsibility.
Not covered: HVAC systems, internal electrical systems, electrical plumbing equipment including sump pumps, medical equipment, electric vehicles; items less than $100; electrical products that are battery-powered and cannot be plugged in and electrical products that cannot be replaced with like kind and quality (e.g. antiques); damage from accidents, negligence or otherwise caused by you, others or unusual circumstances, including pandemics, hostilities and work slowdowns, acts of God, including natural disasters and extreme weather; loss from unauthorized access or use of any system or any destruction or deletion of data or software; excluded damages; correction of, or reimbursement for, any repairs made by you or anyone you hire not authorized by us; replacement, correction, upgrade or move, in order to meet any code, law, regulation, ordinance or utility directive; any electrical products that are not installed according to code, law, regulation, ordinance or manufacturer specifications; any electrical product that is shared with a third party or is covered by a homeowners', condominium, or like association; remediating or notifying you about mold or other hazardous materials; repairs or replacements when no operational failure has occurred; any additional expenses incurred in repairing, replacing, or removing Electrical Products that are affixed within your home; or any cost associated with making space suitable for installation when a replacement Electrical Product does not fit in the existing space within your home; and repair, replacement or removal of any electrical products that are not stated to be covered in the Terms and Conditions. Costs on covered repairs may exceed the benefit limit, in which case you pay the difference between the cost and the benefit limit. Disputes resolved by arbitration, without class action or jury trial, unless otherwise stated in your full Terms and Conditions.
Making a Service Call: Your plan starts the day your enrollment is processed. There is an initial 30-day waiting period before you can make a service call, providing 11 months of coverage during the first year. Upon renewal/reactivation (if applicable), there is no waiting period. You must call HomeServe within 30 days of an electrical surge event to start a claim.
Cancellation: Cancel any time by calling HomeServe or visiting www.homeserve.com. If you cancel within 30 days of your start date, you will get a full refund (less claims paid, where applicable). Cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a pro-rata refund (less claims paid, where applicable).
Renewal: The plan is annual. Unless you cancel, your plan automatically renews annually at the then-current renewal price with your same payment terms.
