  • Damage from accidents, negligence or otherwise caused by you, others or unusual circumstances. Heat Pump/Cooling System: Air ducts, air cleaners, air filters, ductwork, registers, asbestos coverings, condenser pads, snow legs; refrigerant leaks in a system that is more than 15 years old; repair or replacement of compressors and indoor or outdoor refrigerant coils outside the manufacturer’s parts warranty period; more than 1 pound of refrigerant; refrigerant conversions. Additional exclusions apply. Heating System: Add-on components including humidifiers, auxiliary components including ductwork, registers and grilles, electronic or electrostatic air filters, electronic zoning systems, flues, equipment casing or enclosures; repair or replacement of heat exchangers outside of the manufacturer’s parts warranty period. You are not eligible if your property is used for commercial purposes; you know of any current problems with your systems before enrollment; your systems are shared with a 3rd party or covered by a homeowners’ association or the like; or were not installed according to manufacturer specifications; your heat pump/cooling system uses refrigerant which does not meet federal, state, or any other applicable regulatory or code requirements, has non-compliant components, exceeds 5 tons capacity, or is a ductless, ammonia cooling, or window unit; or your heating system is a ductless, radiant floor or ceiling, ultra violet light, geothermal heat pump, steam, boiler, or combination ambient heat/domestic hot water heating unit. In IA, properties with more than 4 dwelling units are not eligible.
Benefit Details: Coverage provides, up to the applicable benefit limit, to repair the broken or failed electric central heat pump/cooling system, including indoor and outdoor refrigerant leaks that do not require the complete replacement of a coil, and the natural gas, propane, electric central forced-air, or oil heating system that have experienced an operational failure, for which you have sole responsibility, that are damaged due to normal wear and tear, not accident or negligence. Coverage provides for repairs or replacement of parts only. Your system will not be replaced. There is a $50 fee per service call.

Making a Service Call: Your plan starts the day your enrollment is processed. There is an initial 30-day waiting period before you can make a service call, giving you 11 months of coverage during the first year. Upon renewal/reactivation (if applicable), there is no waiting period.
Cancellation: Cancel any time by calling HomeServe. If you cancel within 30 days of your start date, you will get a full refund (less claims paid, where applicable). Cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a pro-rata refund (less claims paid, where applicable).
Renewal: The plan is annual. Unless you cancel, your plan automatically renews annually at the then-current renewal price with your same payment terms.
