Overview
Many homeowners do not know that basic homeowners insurance only covers things like property damage to your home, but not repairs due to normal usage to your interior electrical system. You are currently not covered with the Electrical Line Plan in the event of a breakdown. A plan will help with covered interior electrical system repair costs.
Help safeguard your finances against the costs of emergency repairs with a home service repair plan from HomeServe. Eligible homeowners can select Exterior Line Plan, which provides an unlimited annual benefit with unlimited service calls up to $1,500 each for covered repairs. This optional coverage can help ensure that your electric lines can be fixed by a licensed and insured professional in a timely manner.
Important coverage information
Benefit Details: Coverage provides, up to the applicable benefit limit, to repair or replace the following systems for which you have sole responsibility. Interior Electrical System: The broken, failed or hazardous wiring from and including the breaker panel or fuse box, up to and including switches and outlets, and disconnect boxes and all wiring, breakers and switches contained within them that is damaged due to normal wear and tear, not accident or negligence. Exterior Electrical System: The broken, failed or hazardous permanent overhead or underground wiring, and the weatherhead, insulator, riser, meter base, and service entrance conductor located between your utility's responsibility and the exterior wall of your home that is damaged due to normal wear and tear, falling trees, tree branches, high winds or ice, not accident or negligence. Frayed wiring that is still functional is also covered.
Not Covered: Damage or failure due to disconnection or interruption to the main electrical supply, appliances, repair of wiring connected to or any part of the following: doorbells, smoke detectors, garage door systems, and thermostats and similar type systems, damage from accidents, negligence or otherwise caused by you, others, wildlife or unusual circumstances and the following system-specific exclusions: Interior Electrical System: Service entrance conductors; knob and tube wiring, aluminum, or non-standard/non-permanent materials. Additional exclusions apply. Exterior Electrical System: Transformers, generators, non-utility supplied power and/or lines, meter pedestals, pool heaters. fixtures or fittings, lines to detached garages, secondary buildings, or any structure other than your home. Additional exclusions apply. The meter that measures the amount of electricity used is not covered by this plan, but it is covered by OPPD. Disputes resolved by arbitration, without class action or jury trial, unless otherwise stated in your full Terms and Conditions. Costs on covered repairs may exceed the benefit limit, in which case you pay the difference between the cost and the benefit limit.
Making a Service Call: Your plan starts the day your enrollment is processed. There is an initial 30-day waiting period before you can make a service call, giving you 11 months of coverage during the first year. Upon renewal/reactivation (if applicable), there is no waiting period.
Cancellation: Cancel any time by calling HomeServe. If you cancel within 30 days of your start date, you will get a full refund (less claims paid, where applicable). Cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a pro-rata refund (less claims paid, where applicable).
Renewal: The plan is annual. Unless you cancel, your plan automatically renews annually at the then-current renewal price and is billed monthly through your utility bill.
