Walsall kids help Walsall FC launch new-look kit
Unique competition by Walsall FC principal partners, HomeServe, gives local youngsters a once-in-a-lifetime experience to host new season’s kit launch and a training session with first team players
A group of Walsall school children were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of Walsall FC’s official kit launch for the 2016/17 season, thanks for a unique competition organised by principal partners HomeServe.
The Walsall-based home assistance company joined forces with Walsall FC to enable school children at New Invention Junior School, in Willenhall, to unveil the club’s new 2016/17 home and away kits.
First-team manager Jon Whitney, captain Adam Chambers and new signing Florent Cuvelier attended the session and unveiled the new-look strip in front of the lucky youngsters, who won the one-off opportunity following a competition on HomeServe’s Facebook page. Parents were asked to tell HomeServe why their child’s school should receive a visit from the super Saddlers and almost 200 entries from schools across the region were in the frame.
New Invention was chosen in recognition of the school’s amazing support for its surrounding communities and its charity fundraising initiatives.
The children were “blown away” by the “unique experience”, which also included a training session with the management team and players, and their celebrations were captured on film by HomeServe.
John Greaves, Brand Director, HomeServe, said; “We were absolutely delighted to be able to bring Walsall FC’s official kit launch to a local school, especially one like New Invention who share our passion for helping their neighbouring communities in so many ways. The response from the children was amazing, and we hope we gave them an experience they’ll remember for many years to come.”
“The club has a very strong relationship with the local community and we were delighted to support HomeServe with this fantastic initiative,” said Stefan Gamble, CEO, Walsall FC. “Doing the launch differently like this has given us a great opportunity to share some truly unique and special moments with the next generation of Walsall supporters.”
