Fundraising and volunteering

Employee fundraising

HomeServe employees have been busy raising funds with sponsored marathons, fun runs, sky dives, cycling trips, cakes-bakes and dress-down days. Many HomeServe employees have also signed-up to the Pennies for Patients Scheme, which enables staff to donate the loose change from their monthly wage, (up to a maximum of 99p a month) directly to Marie Curie. We are currently phasing in a Charity Holiday Day where employees can purchase an extra day's annual leave, with their wage for that day donated to Marie Curie.

Employee volunteering

Volunteering is promoted and encouraged by HomeServe (currently full-time employees may use up to 16 hours of work time per annum at full pay to participate in volunteering activities for Marie Curie). Recent volunteering activities have included:

  • Marie Curie's Great Daffodil Appeal – HomeServe staff donned Marie Curie tabards and hats to collect cash and sell daffodil pins
  • Marie Curie's Solihull Hospice – A group of our engineers and apprentices volunteered to help tidy the grounds of the hospice to ensure their outside space could be enjoyed by patients during the warmer months
  • Charity Shop Challenge – As a team building event, HomeServe and a suppliers employees joined forces and took over two Marie Curie charity shops in the Midlands, to see who could raise the most money
  • Walk Ten – Employees volunteered on the event days
