If you're prepared to put in a bit of elbow grease then a leaky sink can usually be repaired without having to call a plumber.
If the pipe below the sink is leaking, a number of things could be wrong:
- Pipe not secured correctly
If the pipe isn't secured correctly, you'll need to fix this, using the nozzle to secure it in place.
- Pipe needs replacing
If the pipe is old or damaged it will need replacing. You can buy a new one at most DIY stores.
- Washer needs replacing
If water is leaking from a joint then the washer may have degraded. You should be able to replace this yourself.
Top tips
If the leaking sink extends towards the tap, tie a string around the tap so the water runs down the string silently rather than dripping into the basin.
