What are the Solar & Wind Power Grants?
These types of grants are supplied by the Energy Saving Trust (EST).
Solar Power
There are different types of grants available depending on what type of improvement you need:
- Solar Water Grant - £400.
- Solar Photovoltaic Grant - £3,000 per 1KWp of energy with an overall maximum of £15,000 or 50% of the total cost, whichever is lower.
- Scottish properties are eligible for a grant covering 30% of the installation cost up to £4,000.
Wind Power
If you're a homeowner installing a wind power turbine on your house, you could be eligible for £1000 for each KW installed. The limit is £2500 or 30% of the total installed cost for those in England and £4000 or 30% of the total cost in Scotland.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for a solar or wind power grant, you first need to undertake a number of energy efficiency measures to minimise your home's energy requirements, have an approved installer lined-up and use certified products. See How do I apply? for contact details to learn more.
How do I apply?
Solar grant applications are made on a quarterly basis and applications are assessed by an independent panel. A grant is paid out in two stages, up to 70% at approval and 30% on completion.
