What is the Home Energy Efficiency Scheme?

The Home Energy Efficiency Scheme is designed to help people in Wales make their homes warmer and more energy efficient. The grant provides cover of up to £5000 for improvements such as:

• Loft Insulation
• Cavity Wall Insulation
• Draught Proofing
• Electric storage heaters
• Smoke alarms
• Low energy light bulbs

You will also receive energy efficiency advice to suit your home and to help you further reduce your fuel bills.

Am I eligible?

The Home Energy Efficiency Scheme is split into two eligibility categories:

• Householders who are pregnant or families with children under the age of 16 who claim income or disability related benefits
• Lone parent families with children under 16, the over 60s and those who are disabled or chronically sick

You may be eligible for the Home Energy Efficiency Scheme Plus if you fit these criteria. Grants which are worth up to £3,600 or up to £5,000 are available if oil central heating is required.
